is there any one had experienced 1394A external device can't be recognized under OS?

I encounter this kind of issue recently.( X K* Y C3 y& z+ q9 S* W/ A
; J! o: F6 F$ K2 a* [, r+ k$ oOS is Vista & XP./ k [) U" i5 B6 r
8 V9 z. s) y& V7 O/ w# v( }! x8 i* P0 d1394A controller is Ricoh.

the situation is I could see the removable icon shown on the system tray but there is no device in OS device manager.
